Murphy has a proud history of designing and constructing major tunnels and underground structures internationally for customers including National Grid, UK Power Networks, Thames Water, United Utilities, Wessex Water, Crossrail and Network Rail.
We operate a One Murphy direct delivery model, meaning we own, operate, and continually invest in our fleet of tunnelling equipment. This, coupled with the expertise provided by our in-house Ground and Applied Engineering teams, allows to support our customers at all points of their projects, from temporary and permanent work design to geotechnical advice.
We have experience in designing and delivering shafts and caverns using a wide range of techniques, including sprayed concrete lining and mechanised Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) tunnelling, that can cater to different ground conditions and depths. This allows us to evaluate the most effective solution for each unique requirement.
