For many people, finding meaningful work is not just a challenge, but almost impossible due to the extra barriers they face in accessing employment.

To achieve this, we operate a portfolio of inclusive recruitment programmes to support underrepresented groups. These include:

Ambitious About Autism Placements

Only 29% of autistic adults are in employment. Murphy is the first and only company in the construction sector to adopt the Ambitious about Autism programme, creating long-term employment for neurodiverse candidates. Through the Employ Autism programme, Murphy is providing paid internships to autistic candidates, with training provided by Ambitious about Autism to ensure that the internships are successful.

Prison Leavers Scheme

Prison leavers in steady jobs six months after leaving prison are 69% less likely to commit further crime. With this statistic in mind, Murphy is proud to have been a founding member of the first National Prison Employment Advisory Board (EAB), a unique initiative offering a journey of employment to prison leavers.

Refugee Support Scheme

Partnering with the Home Office Murphy has created a unique scheme which helps refugees settle into their new lives and find meaningful work. The scheme involves a support package that allows new intakes time to improve their English if necessary, extends the induction programme and assigns them a buddy that is usually somebody who has come through a not dissimilar experience.
