Frequently Asked Questions

How do I apply?

All applications need to be submitted through our application portal. Use the apply now button on this page to see all our current graduate roles.

When can I apply?

Our application window for graduate roles opens in Autumn for the following September. You can stay up to date on the latest application windows on our social media channels.

What are the entry requirements for Murphy graduate roles?

  • Have obtained (graduated) or on track to achieve your degree by the September start date
  • Eligible to work in the UK or Ireland with a valid work permit if applicable
  • Must have a full valid driver’s license
  • Flexibility to work in different locations as you may be required to relocate for your role
  • For our engineering programmes you will need a relevant degree
  • For all other programmes we welcome applications from any degree discipline if you can demonstrate a strong interest in the area

Do I need a degree in an engineering, construction or STEM based subject?

For our engineering related roles you will need a relevant degree to be considered. However, we offer a wide variety of roles and many of our graduates have joined us without a typically construction-based qualification or background. We are also interested in applicants who can demonstrate the transferable skills and attributes their chosen degree has given them.

Where will I be working each day?

We offer graduate positions across the UK and Ireland, with opportunities available to rotate to different locations throughout the programme.

Due to the nature of construction, a high proportion of our graduates work in site based roles. Some roles may require you to spend time both on and offsite, so you will need to embrace this flexibility to succeed.

What disciplines do you offer programmes in?

We typically recruit graduates for site-based Engineering and Quantity Surveying roles. However, our graduate positions vary year on year and we also recruit for other industry related roles. Please check our application portal for the latest opportunities.

What are rotations and how do they work?

During your programme, you will have the opportunity to experience different projects through our structured rotations. This will allow you to see the breadth of the work that we do across the UK and Ireland.
