Frequently Asked Questions

How do I apply?

All applications need to be submitted through our application portal. Use the apply now button on this page to see all our current apprenticeship roles.

When can I apply?

Our application window for apprentices opens in Autumn for the following September. You can stay up to date on the latest application windows on our social media channels.

What are the entry requirements for Murphy Apprenticeships?

Each of our apprenticeship programmes have different minimum entry requirements, dependent on the level and programme you are applying for, that you will need to meet to apply. You can find those requirements on our apprentice adverts on our careers site, or by clicking here.

On top of this, we ask that for all apprenticeships you must demonstrate the following:

  • Eligibility to work in the UK and Ireland with a valid work permit if applicable
  • Flexibility to move around as you may be required to relocate for your role
  • Willingness to work hard and to keep learning.

What roles do you offer apprenticeships in?

Our apprenticeship opportunities vary year on year; however, we regularly recruit for roles in the following areas:

  • Groundworker
  • Civil Engineer
  • Electrical Engineer
  • Vehicle and Plant Technicians
  • Quantity Surveying
  • Procurement
  • Finance
  • Construction Equipment (Plant) Hire

Where will I be working each day?

We offer apprenticeships across the UK and Ireland. They are usually linked to our key office, depot and project locations.

Due to the nature of construction, a high proportion of our apprentices work in site-based or depot workshop-based roles. At the same time, some of our apprentices are also building their careers offsite in roles not always associated with the construction industry including bid management, procurement and finance. Some roles may require you to spend time both on and offsite, so you will need to embrace this flexibility to succeed.
